In the ever-fast growing world wide web, new thriving applications enter the market in rapid speed. With new apps introducing individual user accounts, nowadays it can become cumbersome for users to keep track of their various user accounts for each app.
KiiCloud leverages the ability of established and globally available authorization providers, such as Facebook, and Twitter and is continiously working to expand this portfolio. This means that rather than having a user to create a new account for each new application, the already existing Facebook or Twitter account of the user can be used to identify and sign them into your application. This greatly simplified signup process, might also reduce the hesitation of some users signing in and creating a new account for you application, and in return benefits growth to your applications user base.
Integrating sign-up through a Social Network for your application is respectively easy and only requires a few steps.
- First step for you is to register your application on the Social Networks you want to integrate with, so they will be able to administer sign up and logins to your application for its user accounts. You can find a detailed instruction about this process up on
After you have successfully registered your application on the Social Network(s), you will see on the social networks site, that it has created an AppKey & AppSecret for your application. To let KiiCloud handle signups & logins through Social Networks, you need to register this information up on the Kii developer portal. Depending on the Social Network you might only need to input the AppKey information (e.g. Facebook) or both AppKey & AppSecret (e.g. Twitter). With this step the setup on the developer portal has already been completed.
In order to complete the integration, your last step is to add a few lines of code to your application. For more information on the code, please check out our documentation:
The Kii-SDK will handle the whole forwarding process of the user to the Social Networks login area, where he/she can allow access for your application to use his account for sign up. Once this has been completed, the SDK will bring back the user logged in to your application.
We are continuously trying to improve your experience with KiiCloud, as so integration methods for additional Social Networks will be following soon. If you have any specific requirements or would like to inquire the ETA of the Social Network you want to integrate, please don't hesitate comment on this topic.
